I *finally* got around to seeing The Avengers, and it was fun. It was a comic book movie, but it was a *good* comic book movie. And the dialogue was very Whedonesque. Well worth the $12.99 I paid. One thing I didn't get was how (cutting for spoilers) the rest of the Avengers managed to get the Hulk to stay on task and *only* smash bad guys in his later appearance. But all in all, pretty good.

As for staying on task -- there were enough badguys that he didn't get bored?
From what we've seen on-screen, he's not stupid. Barely verbal, completely emotion-driven, and with near-zero impulse control, but he can make/use tools and (in the Leterrier&Norton movie) putting out a fire with a shock-wave was something it took above-average intelligence to come up with.
