Read this and wonder at the crazy way some people's minds work.

"I need money. Therefore I will buy a put option, stage a fake terrorist attack on a German soccer team, watch their stock price fall as a result, and make money in the stock market."

This idiot seriously couldn't think of any way of making lots of money that didn't involve MURDERING PEOPLE???????!!!!!! As it happens, none of the players actually died when bombs exploded on their team bus, but one was seriously injured, and the rest are probably fucking traumatized. And it was sheer incompetence by the bomber that nobody died, no other reason. Who THINKS like that?

The idiot terrorist-for-profit got caught, and will presumably go to prison. I hope it's for a very, very long time.

It was a roadside bomb beside the bus. And also note the initial attempt to frame Muslims, which I assume probably caused some kind of retaliatory attacks in the area.

The area in question being Dortmund, which is simultanously one of the most multiethnic spots in Germany and one of the centres for Neonazis. It's also the German equivalent of the rust belt, i.e. where all the coal and steel workers used to be. I was there only last week, and was told it's probably the only German town where you can take your A-Levels in the Tamil language and it counts. But there's a quarter which is so dominated by right wing fanatics that the rest of the town is afraid to go there.

Still: there weren't any riots following this particular attack (as far as I know). On the bright side of human nature, a lot of Dortmund fans volunteered their flats as places for Monaco fans to stay. (On the dark side, the players really didn't want to play just two days later, but they were made to by their greedy bosses.)

...that plot turned up in every single action show of the 80s and 90s and this guy still thought it would work? Ugh.
