$597 is what I shelled out on Young Miss Weaver yesterday. Various tests, antibiotic gel for her eyes, plus a referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist (whom we won't see for a few weeks likely). Mercifully, I have pet insurance which covers 80%, so I'll get all except $120 back from them. Eventually. In the fullness of time (to quote Sir Humphrey Appleby of Yes, Minister fame). Who'd ever have a pet, if they knew in advance how much they cost?

Incidentally, with regards to my last post on VOKRA, my psychiatrist, of all people, had something interesting to say about them as an organization. I see him every Friday right after work, and I mentioned switching my monthly donation from VOKRA to the Vancouver SPCA and he said one of his other patients had attempted to adopt from VOKRA about 6 months ago, and had a similar experience that my friends had a few weeks ago, being deemed an unsuitable home on grounds that seemed pretty frivolous. His patient went on to adopt from the SPCA with no trouble, just like my friends.

Awesomely hilarious post outlining Steve Rogers' jogging route near the beginning of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and concluding (with map evidence) that Steve was basically stalking Sam Wilson in order to keep running past him.

Very funny (in a different way) post from selenak about the TV show that is British politics. And on a much more sober note, have selenak again on the Chilcot Report.

I hope so too. Yeah, the insurance has come in useful at times.

Her bad eyes don't seem to be slowing her down at all, fortunately. The vet said that other than her eyes, she seemed in better health than at her annual check up. More hydrated, glossier coat, less skin irritation. I guess the switch to a totally chicken free diet and tricking her into drinking more water had an effect.

Not too badly - I've just posted a report on how my bronchoscopy went, but I haven't had a result of that yet. I still have the Coff of Doom, but I think it's marginally better than it was. But I could be imagining that.

Smokey is well, coat glossy, nose cold, eyes bright, and at the moment asleep on her radiator hammock.
