North Americans: clocks go back TONIGHT!
Nov. 4th, 2017 09:01 amJust a gentle reminder that if you live in Canada or the USA, you get to sleep in for an extra hour Sunday morning. Every spring I bitterly hate the time change, and every autumn I love it.
In other news, I fail at adulting. I am eating ice cream for breakfast. Why? Because I can. Also because I had intended to make blueberry pancakes but then realized I used my last two eggs to make scrambled eggs on toast for dinner on Thursday night. I need to go to the supermarket if I intend to achieve blueberry pancakes.
And I went to Havana Restaurant on Commercial Drive last night and had the most amazingly divine entree salad. It's called the Havana Salad, get it with the blackened Cajun chicken breast. I'm not a huge salad fan, generally, but this salad was SO GOOD. And then I undid all my good work by ordering the creme brûlée for dessert. Also divine. But next time I go there, I will be trying the apple pear upside down cake, because
claudia_yvr had that, and I had a little taste, and that was excellent too. But go early, as they don't seem to take reservations. We were there by 5:20 pm and it was already filling up. By the time we rolled out of of our booth, it was packed, and there was a substantial line of people patiently waiting.
Incidentally, I've been to Cuba (to the beach resort Varadero, with a day trip to Havana), and the food at Havana Restaurant doesn't seem particularly Cuban to me. But it's really, REALLY good food.
Edited to add: And I was wrong, they DO take reservations. Oh, happy day!
