Jun. 20th, 2016 05:27 pmNote to pedestrians downtown: When you hear sirens, do NOT step into the damn crosswalk. Waiting for the emergency vehicle(s) to pass does NOT just apply to vehicular traffic.
I heard sirens this afternoon, then the little white man flashed up and half the pedestrians on the corner started walking across the street, totally disregarding the sirens. The ambulance had to stop in the middle of the intersection and wait for them to get out of the fucking way.
What if it was one of their loved ones in that ambulance on the way to the hospital? Would they have disregarded the sirens then?
On the bright side, half the pedestrians on the corner DIDN'T cross when the little white man lit up, but waited patiently for the approaching ambulance to pass by before they attempted to cross. A gold star to those 10 people, an eye-roll to the other 10 who ignored the sirens. Inconsiderate assholes!
