Dec. 20th, 2014 07:48 pmIntroducing John Henry Mk II, because my new laptop isn't Skynet any more than the old one was. And my bookmarks from the old computer synced in iCloud! I'm still working out a few kinks but by and large it's working well.
A few weeks ago,
next_to_normal posted a wonderful interview with Kings creator Michael Green. Oddly enough, from the Playboy website, so while there's nothing NSFW at that particular link, you probably don't want to click the link from a work computer. I find it very strange that someone who works for flipping *Playboy* is geeking out over Kings, but I'll take great interviews where I can find them.
For those who haven't heard of Kings, it was a sadly short-lived show that aired on NBC in summer 2009, a modern dress adaptation of the Book of David, starring Ian McShane, Sebastian Stan, Susanna Thompson (from Arrow) and a block of wood called Christopher Egan (I'm being unkind. Egan may be a very good actor in other roles, but in my not so humble opinion he was horrendously miscast). Green has all the dirt, like how while they were in production, all the NBC executives who'd nurtured the show got fired, and their replacements either had no idea how to market the show to the public or no interest in marketing it. Now, I'm not saying that it would necessarily have been a hit if it hadn't been burned off with very little publicity, but marketed properly. TV is tricky. But Once Upon a Time and Sleepy Hollow both found audiences, and they had premises just as strange as Kings did. Anyway, it's worth checking out the interview.
Very few spoilers at the above link. I suspect both Green and the journalist were hoping to draw in a few new viewers on DVD with the interview, so while there's lots of dirt, there aren't many spoilers.
