Jul. 17th, 2014 03:03 pmNow the World Cup is over, I’ve decided to get rid of my TV. Well, not get rid of the actual television set, which I will still use for watching DVDs, but of the cable package that allows me to watch channels. It may just be temporary, as I may end up going into TV withdrawal. But I tracked my TV watching before the World Cup started, and I was averaging 3 hours of TV per week, some weeks even less. I don’t want to pay for a service I hardly use. The TV shows I watch are available via the channels’ websites if you don’t mind waiting a day, and if I want to watch soccer, there are always internet streams.
My mum, via a long chat with the dispatcher at the electrician’s office, discovered that there is a wonderful vet in North Van (well, allegedly wonderful) who makes house calls. You pay for the privilege, obviously, but the dispatcher has used him for her rescue cats who freak out at the very notion of going to the vet clinic. Maybe Young Miss Weaver wouldn’t need to be doped up if she were seeing the vet in her own space. Anyway, I’m keeping Friday’s appointment at the regular clinic, but putting his contact info aside for next time. It’s worth finding out exactly how *much* extra it would cost.
The electrician is installing my new dining room light fixture tomorrow, , which is this but way, way discounted. I rarely buy stuff that’s not on sale. My mother thinks it’s hideous, but I like it, and it’s going in my dining room, not hers. Actually, I don’t have a dining room, I have a dining nook, but it still needs a light fixture.
