Jul. 15th, 2014 05:29 amGod, it's hot. I may melt.
I've had to call the police on the horrible, drug-dealing neighbour twice in the past week. Boo, hiss.
tightropegirl is writing on LJ again! Linking to two different recent posts of hers, an absolutely searing, but exceptionally well-written one about physical pain (well worth reading even if you don't have pain yourself, just amazingly written, and ends on a very hopeful note). And then she burbles like a brook on the subject of Lord Peter Wimsey, which just goes to show she's feeling much better now.
Some SPOILERS above for Jill Paton Walsh's continuations of the Dorothy L. Sayers oeuvre.
tightropegirl likes the continuation books, which I haven't read myself. Out of curiosity, anybody else read them? What did you think? Worth shelling out money on?
grumpybear1031 is having a really rough time. She and her mother are the working poor, and owing to an unfortunate combination of circumstances, she's decided to accept donations (link at the link above). I've known
grumpybear1031 on LJ for several years, she's never asked anybody for money before, and I honestly don't think it's a scam. So if you have an extra $5 or $10 hanging around, I can think of worse places to spend it.
In related news, so, SO thankful I live in a country with a universal healthcare system. Yes, Canada's system has its problems, but people here don't end up with their hospital bills being sent to a collections agency.
