Dec. 18th, 2013 03:26 pmI wish I could recapture the feeling I get the first time I read something I love. I am a re-reader extraordinaire, of both books and fic, and there’s a lot to be said for re-reading. You pick up on details you missed on the first pass. But you never quite recapture that initial high of reading something and having it just…click. There’s that giddy sense as you first read that you’re discovering something new and wonderful, and once it’s already discovered, that sense dims.
In totally different news, one Ms. Caitlin Moran has decided to irritate at least half the fannish internet, probably more. I know plenty of people who aren’t even in Sherlock fandom who are annoyed.
I’m going to Bach Cantatas for Christmas on Sunday at the Chan Centre, and I’m very much looking forward to it.
My phone battery has decided it doesn’t want to hold a charge. I’m hoping it’s just something that is happening today, rather than the first occurrence of an ongoing problem. I am not ready to trade in my phone for a new one just yet. I got the 64 gigabyte iPhone 4S back in the Dark Ages when it first came out, and I’ve only used up half the memory so far.
I managed to lose my credit card, which is ever so convenient just before Christmas. Fortunately I finished all my shopping already, because the new one will arrive between 2 and 10 business days from now (way to vague it up, bank). I really need to get my act together and apply for a second card to use as a backup. I am reluctant to have too much credit available for fear of spending it, but if I’m going to keep losing cards, clearly I *need* a backup.
