Nov. 10th, 2012 11:27 amIt's beautiful outside. Cold as hell (by Vancouver standards), but sunny. Also, it's a long weekend.
New TV what I'm watching:
Elementary: I like it. I don't love it, but I like it. And Lucy Liu as Joan Watson proves all the naysayers wrong. It's interesting, because they're taking the characters in a dramatically different direction than BBC's Sherlock did, but I think there's support in ACD's canon for their interpretation.
Arrow: Having seen 2 episodes, I can safely say that this is lousy television, by objective standards. But Colin Salmon! As a BAMF in charge, no less. But Susanna Thompson from Kings (essentially playing the exact same role she did in Kings)! The middle-aged love story between Salmon and Thompson's characters being treated with some dignity. Great chemistry between Oliver and Digg. Horribly inappropriate chemistry between Oliver and his baby sister Thea. Two black men in the main cast who both have substantive roles and whose characters are not related to each other.
And yet, Oliver is so...generic. And has absolutely no chemistry whatsoever with his designated love interest. Speaking of whom, Katie Cassidy is just phoning in her performance. And the dialogue, dear God, the dialogue is terribly written. I will probably continue to watch, at least for a while, as popcorn entertainment.
New TV what I'm not watching (yet):
I have heard good things about Hunted from my brother. If you're watching it, is he right? He and I don't always have the same taste in TV and movies.
