OK, new rule. I am deleting my stored credit card details at both Amazon.ca and iTunes. This whole buying with one click thing is seriously undermining my efforts to budget. If I *have* to buy more books/DVDs/music, I will re-input the credit card info, then immediately delete it again after the transaction goes through. Of course, if I just had more willpower, this wouldn't be an issue, but apparently I was behind the barn door when God was handing out willpower.

This is kind of a nice story. A group of inmates at Riker's Island Prison in NY worked together to rescue a female prison guard who was being sexually assaulted by another inmate. Shades of "Prison Break" there, except for the whole not being fiction thing. "Prison Break" was a guilty pleasure of mine until it went completely off the rails.

has some incredibly funny parodies of the six wives of Henry VIII, among other Tudor parodies. Go read, and laugh.

[personal profile] legionseagle has really interesting thoughts on constructive criticism in fanfic and extract of cucumber (just trust me, the extract of cucumber becomes relevant, in a giggle-worthy way). The comments are also very interesting.

I was on the Skytrain t'other day and there was a couple standing near me who were being very affectionate. Nothing inappropriate, just holding hands and giggling and kissing each other on the cheek. What surprised me was that the man had to be seventy if he was a day, and the woman must have been in her early sixties. I'm not used to even mild PDA from people in that age bracket. I was intensely curious whether this was a longterm marriage (they were both wearing wedding rings) or if this was a fairly new relationship. Obviously i didn't ask, but I was curious. Anyway, it was sweet.

And even sweeter, there was a young couple (well, probably late twenties, so not that young) also on the Skytrain last weekend who'd just gone and got matching diamond engagement rings and were showing them off to the whole carriage. I was tensing, waiting for someone to make a homophobic remark or at least display body language suggesting that these two delightfully happy young women were making them uncomfortable just by existing as themselves. But everybody in the Skytrain carriage seemed to be pleased for them. Of course, it was half empty. But still, progress.
