Cat staff on my f-list/dwircle, please talk to me about the feline leukaemia vaccine. Young Miss Weaver is going for a post-dental checkup on Monday and is getting her booster FVRPC then, but the feline leukaemia vaccine is separate. Is it a good idea for her to have it, bearing in mind that she's an indoor cat who doesn't mingle with other cats? Also, she might be going to a cat hotel (they used to call them kennels when I was a kid, but apparently they're cat hotels now. Whatevs) in a few months. That vaccine is not required for entry, but is strongly recommended. Thanks.

Not a cat person but I've known a lot of cat owners: they were all 100% in favour of having the vaccine (one spent weeks living on baked beans on toast to cover the cost). A cat who has any contact with other cats at all is at risk, and if the cat hotel doesn't require it, she would be at risk.

Seconded. Smokey doesn't have it, but then I pay for cat sitters rather than sending her to a cattery when I go away.

Yeah, I'm now kind of side-eying the cat hotel in question for *not* requiring it, actually. And thinking if she goes to a cat hotel, in lieu of me having someone come in and stay in the apartment, it will be one where the FLV vaccine is required.
