If anybody here in Canada is considering switching to Telus Optik TV, don't do it!!!! Half the time I try to use the damn PVR it won't work. Today it won't record Orphan Black. Also, earlier this week i was on hold for 1 hour and 37 minutes trying to change my channel package so I could get the Space Channel (the Canadian channel that airs Orphan Black). It's the season premiere tonight, for frell's sake, I can't be home, and I'm going to miss it.
I signed a 3 year contract a little over a year ago, and got a free laptop as a result (which I gave to Brother, as I already had John Henry, my MacBook Pro). I am seriously contemplating cancelling my contract and just paying back however much money I still owe them on the stupid laptop. I'll take a financial hit, but maybe if I go back to Shaw Cable, I'll actually be able to watch TV when I want to.
I just spent twenty minutes talking with a perfectly nice tech support lady who was not able to fix the problem. I've arranged to have a manager call me back after 10 am tomorrow. Tech support wants to send me a new remote control in the mail. I think the entire stupid PVR is the issue, and I'd just as soon have a new one of those as well (it's rented as part of my package, so they ought to be able to give me a new one).
I'm just so frustrated. I've been looking forward to Orphan Black for months now. It's just been one thing after another with this PVR, ever since I switched over to Telus TV last spring. I kept my composure with the tech support lady with some difficulty, because it's not HER fault. So yeah: avoid Telus TV at all costs.
