I posted this yesterday for about five minutes, on the grounds that I might be too busy to post on the anniversary itself. And then I deleted the entry, thinking, "Fourteen young women with their whole lives ahead of them were murdered for the high crime of studying engineering while female. I can damn well MAKE time to post on the anniversary of their deaths."

Rest in peace.

I don't usually ask people to repost stuff, but the Montreal Massacre is virtually unknown outside of Canada. So if you're not from Canada, please consider reading the link. And once you've read it, please consider making a post of your own. It's been 22 years, yes, but that's no reason for the names of these smart, brave, unfortunate women to be forgotten. Nor for the reasons behind their deaths to be obscured. Marc Lepine murdered them because he hated feminism. He said that explicitly.

(Ahh you're on DW!)

Anyway, I wanted to comment here instead! Like I said, I didn't know anything about this. I reposted on Tumblr since I was a bit surprised to find nothing already there about it. (And if you'd prefer not to be linked from Tumblr, I can unlink it. I wasn't sure!)
