Thoughts, good and bad, in no particular order (actually, come to think of it, it's mostly positives followed by mostly negatives) after the spoiler cut. Please note I have not read anybody else's reactions yet:

So Cap didn't die, which was my main fear. I had been very worried that this would be the movie in which Steve Rogers dies.

It was pretty good. Good enough that I held my bladder in check throughout the 2.5 hour running time, because I didn't want to miss anything. But not so good that I felt the urge to see it again and again and AGAIN right away, the way I did with Winter Soldier. I may never see it again, and be okay with that.

As my friend's partner observed on the way home, "Kind of impressive that they had 3 black guys in the movie and none of them died."

T'Challa/Black Panther was awesome. Chadwick Boseman is fabulous, and I loved that T'Challa both abandoned his original mission of vengeance against Bucky off his own bat when he realized he was chasing the wrong guy, as opposed to needing to be told, and prevented Daniel Bruhl's character from taking the easy way and committing suicide at the end.

This was a very crowded movie with a lot of different characters. I was hoping for more Steve/Bucky/Sam/Natasha interaction, like in Winter Soldier. It felt more like an Avengers movie than a Captain America movie. In truth, it felt a hell of a lot more like an Avengers movie than Age of Ultron ever did. Kind of like it had to clean up the mess Marvel and Joss Whedon made of A:AoU.

So we're turning over Avengers' actions to the frelling United Nations now? That shining beacon of democratic ideals and practices? Yeah, that's gonna go well. Um, I may be a little cynical about the UN, which has always been a great idea in theory, but hasn't worked out so great in practice.

Alfre Woodard's cameo as the mother of poor dead Charles Spencer was powerful. Also, a role that could very easily have gone to a white actor, so kudos to them for casting an actor of colour.

That said, I resented Iron Man for hijacking Cap's movie with his parental issues and his issues in general. Did I say that already? If I did, I'm saying it again. Tony Stark has already had 5 movies, did he really need a sixth? Also, I continue to resent A:AoU for invalidating all the choices and personal growth Tony made in Iron Man 3. And I was glad that there were consequences to him going back on his choices in IM3, i.e. Pepper finally leaving him. That said, I found it difficult to believe that Tony, that hyper-intelligent, hyper-paranoid guy, never thought before that maybe, just maybe his parents' "car accident" might have been Hydra. Tony has never been STUPID before.

The kiss between Steve and Sharon Carter felt kind of shoehorned in, and that's not just the shipper in me talking. Also, she's the great-niece of Peggy Carter, which makes it kind of weird. But I did enjoy Sharon's speech at Peggy's funeral. I guess they kind of had to kill Peggy off, at her age and with her dementia problems.

Speaking of weird, the obvious big age difference between Paul Bettany as Vision and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda was hitting all my squick buttons in their scene at the compound.

I did not like at all that Bucky went back in the tank at the very end, and that Steve LET him. Yeah, yeah, his own choice this time, whatevs, but I still didn't like it. AT ALL. On the bright side (very small bright side), I guess this means Bucky is conveniently situated to be a supporting player in the upcoming Black Panther movie.

The Sam and Bucky interactions were all gold.

There was a sad dearth of Natasha in this movie.

So you know, I'm relieved that none of my faves got killed off, and it was well done on a technical level, and I'm not sorry to have spent the money on the ticket, but it didn't pierce my soul like Winter Soldier did.

i swear I'm allergic to this stupid cat of mine. Either that or I'm allergic to something in this house. I keep sniffling when I'm at home but not away from home. Except for last night, when we were at a very nice Thai restaurant, I tried a friend's spicy drunken noodle, and bit down on a chili. My mouth was on fire, my eyes were watering, I was sniffling, and I was frantically alternating large gulps of Bangkok fizz with bites of Swimming Rama trying to cleanse my palate.

The people sitting next to us in the theatre were very vocal in their disapproval of Tilda Swinton having been cast as the wise Asian mystic in the trailer for Doctor Strange, and I agreed with them.

Also, anybody in North America got room for an extra cat on a temporary basis? The cat is currently in Georgia while the owner relocates to Montreal, and apparently the cat is not safe in the current environment but the owner cannot take it out of that unsafe environment yet. Sounds like the owner would prefer someone who was in the general geographic vicinity of Georgia but is willing to consider other parts of North America as the situation is deeply worrying for them.
