executrix has posted a link to a page which suggests useful, practical waysworthy causes currently on the ground helping out in Texas following Hurricane Harvey. Things like tampons, disposable diapers and pet food aren't sexy, but they're really damn necessary in an emergency.

As for the floods in South Asia, well over a thousand people are dead, which is a mind boggling number. I'm a monthly donor to Medicins Sans Frontieres (also known in English as Doctors Without Borders), and have just made a one-off donation, because I'm sure they're really pretty stretched right now.
