Phew, feeling like I dodged a bullet
Aug. 1st, 2016 11:05 amSo, Young Miss Weaver saw the different vet yesterday, and yes, her heart rate at the vet is still very high. However, she wants me to listen to YMW's heart rate once a day when she's relaxed and write down the number of beats I count. She will check in with me by phone on Thursday and if her resting heart rate is normal, then this vet says there's no need for her to see the cardiologist.
I think I may switch to this vet, partly because she seems to take a less interventionist approach, and partly because this practice charges significantly lower rates than her current practice does. They gave me a written estimate for dental work, and it's literally about half the price I paid for YMW's first set of dental work in 2014. The waiting room is a lot less fancy, and they don't submit the insurance paperwork on your behalf like her current veterinary office does, but it won't kill me to fill it out and fax it in.
If YMW drops dead of a heart attack in a few months, I will of course feel horrendously guilty that I didn't take her to the cardiologist as her original vet wanted!
