Jun. 10th, 2016 12:50 pmI have a tension headache combined with an ear worm of Leslie Odom, Jr. singing a line from the Hamilton song "Non-Stop". Over and over and over in my head, I hear "I'm taking my time, watching the afterbirth of a nation, watching the tension grow." Oh and if you're a fan of Odom's performance as Aaron Burr, please be aware that he just released a self-titled jazz album. I really hope the producers of Hamilton throw a lot of money at him to sign on for another year. They shouldn't break up the whole cast just because Lin-Manuel Miranda is leaving.
Oh, and did you know that George Washington freed all his slaves upon his death in his will? I did not know that. Little bit of American history trivia for you.
I was getting ready for work this morning, feeling like death warmed over, and as I got to the front door, felt this wave of nausea (not new) and also extreme dizziness (which was new). The floor was swimming and I couldn't find the door handle. So I called in sick. I just wish i'd figured out how sick I was prior to getting dressed and doing my hair and putting my jewellery on. I felt kind of better after a 6 hour nap. I never sleep for 6 hours at a time, people, not unless I'm on vacation. I usually wake up in the night a few times, but no, today I slept for 6 solid hours. Guess I needed it.
So, I guess everybody heard about John Oliver, huh? Well, here's a follow-up article pointing out that the people whose medical debt he forgave may still be screwed by the system
I get so MAD about medical debt in the States. What on earth is so scary about universal healthcare? Canada has it, and yeah, it's a far from perfect system, but at least here people don't go bankrupt or lose their homes or both because they had the misfortune to fall ill.
