I think I’m out of practice at reading my f-list/dwircle. Having stopped for a while, I’m having trouble getting back into it.

Get your geek on. I managed to acquire a bottle of OPI’s Cinnamon Sweet from Nail Polish Canada. THAT is the nail polish Hayley Atwell wears on the TV show Agent Carter. I had several similar reds already, but not the exact shade. NPC had said originally that it was out of stock and never coming back in, but they must have got a tiny bit of stock in, because I managed to score some. Now when you go to their site and type in Cinnamon Sweet, you get a page saying “Please notify me when this product is back in stock”, just like you used to before. I think they only had it in for about 2 days.

AND [personal profile] wanderer, knowing that I’d been having a rough time lately, very kindly offered to send me the A England shade of my choice as a giftmas present. I chose Briarwood, which is a lovely brown-y, pink-y holographic. I painted my nails with it, and it’s beautiful, but every time I try to take a picture, it comes out all blurry. Also, holy non-chip formula, Batman. A England really LASTS. Alas, NPC seems to be low on stock, and a lot of the most attractive A England colours are sold out until further notice. Which is probably good for my credit card balance. Also, every time my mother comes over, she glances at the dresser and asks, “Do you think you have enough nail polish?” If I start buying even more, she’ll have a conniption.

Shortly before Christmas, my psychiatrist opined that he thinks I have a mild case of agoraphobia. Which is….nice, I guess. I’m not sure what good it does me to know that, but I suppose it makes me more aware. Anyway, last Saturday, I was out taking advantage of the nice weather (for January) to take a walk, and a seagull pooped on my head. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before, so I just stood there like an idiot for a little while. Then I grabbed the package of tissues I happened to have in my coat pocket, cleaned up as much as I could, and headed for home at great speed. I think I shampooed my hair three times.

Listen, universe, this kind of thing happening when I leave the house is NOT helping with the mild case of agoraphobia! I was already paranoid about bad stuff happening when I leave the house. I didn’t need independent confirmation that the world is scary and out to get me.

[personal profile] commodorified recently posted on shame, reassurance, and doing the work. Really interesting, thoughtful stuff.

Also interesting, on a different subject, from [personal profile] musesfool, have why Darth Vader's extension of the olive branch to Luke in The Empire Strikes Back, makes perfect sense, if you're Darth Vader, as opposed to being WTF crazy and delusional.

Also on the subject of Star Wars, and containing major spoilers for the new movie, Why the Fan Theories about Rey Need to be Wrong. I'm not sure I agree with this one, but it did make me think, and think HARD.

Also on the subject of Star Wars (I have a feeling I'll be typing that a lot for a little while yet), did you know that the original trailer for The Empire Strikes Back was really awful? Never fear, a fan has created a modern-style trailer for it that's much better. Using only original footage, I should add.

And [personal profile] selenak has written on (some) plot twists that really worked, and why. With major spoilers for The Empire Strikes Back, the Sixth Sense, Alias, Babylon 5 and my beloved Farscape.
