musesfool has written a wonderful little Star Wars fic about Darth Vader figuring out who Leia really is after he watches her strangle Jabba with the chains of her own slavery. It's called Evidence of Things Not Seen, and go, read it!

legionseagle has been documenting the (extremely arresting) facts and visuals coming out of Cumbria and Lancashire (in the north west of England), which have been experiencing catastrophic flooding in the wake of Storm Desmond. The flood defences have not held, a bridge that had been there since the 18th century exists no longer, etc, etc. Desmond was my delightful maternal grandfather's name. It grieves me that his name is now associated with such devastation. At least, to my knowledge, nobody has been killed YET. That's something, although it seems to be due mainly to extreme efficiency of the rescue services, both professional and volunteer, rather than due to the storm not being devastating.
