Nov. 12th, 2015 04:44 pmTiny Tortoiseshell has gone to the SPCA with Neighbour #1, who has a car. Young Miss Weaver will take a while to recover from the trauma of having to share HER space for a night and a day. Really glad I did it, though, because last night and today were all about the torrential downpours and strong winds, no time of year for any domestic animal to be out in the rain and the cold.
I do hope she doesn't have fleas. I may have to get YMW some Advantage (brand name of an expensive flea-killing treatment that actually works). And I do hope she gets claimed by her owner(s) once at the SPCA. I don't need another cat. Although I have to say, if I were to get another cat, it would be one with a personality like this. YMW worked herself up into a temper tantrum on two occasions last night, and on both occasions she didn't get let YMW rile her up at all, just sat there placidly on the couch until eventually YMW gave up on hissing at her and stalked away.
I do NOT need another cat.
Edited to add: and it turns out TT belongs to someone else in the building. Neighbour #1 and Neighbour #2 DID knock on her door yesterday before they got to my door, but she wasn't home at the time. TT's owner will retrieve her from SPCA tomorrow. Poor TT, it seems she's very elderly and on her last legs, which would explain why she was such a bag of bones. When she disappeared a few days ago, her owner assumed she'd gone off somewhere to die. Oh, and she's FIV-positive. I'm pretty sure I had YMW vaccinated against that, but will call the vet's office in the morning to be sure. In any event, Cornell's veterinary science page says it's not passed on via casual contact, but through deep bites or mother to kitten at birth. TT did not bite YMW nor the other way around, therefore YMW should be fine. Poor TT. Neighbour #1 is feeling guilty, like we should've put up a sign in the lobby or something before we took TT to the SPCA. Well, TT's owner could've put up a sign too. YMW is an only child once again.
