World Cup-related shenanigans

My mum came into the city yesterday, we went to lunch at a Salvadorean restaurant (yum!) with World Cup flags a'flying everywhere, and had quite a funny conversation about Luis Suarez. Cutting to spare people who don't give a frell about futbol:( Read more... )
Speaking of Suarez, very interesting, though rather long article on the ESPN website about him and his bitey ways, written *before* the most recent biting incident, and therefore rather prescient.
The only thing I take issue with in the article is the uncritical presentation of the romance between him and wife Sofia Balbi. Which, as presented, is adorable. But let's be realistic for a second. If he's that out of control on the field, chances are his self-control off the field isn't that much better. I'm not saying he's necessarily abusive, but his wife is probably used to walking on eggshells to avoid upsetting him.
I guess I'm wearing orange to work on Wednesday, as Holland will be playing Argentina in the semi-final. I'm not just a bandwagon-jumper, I was actually born there, and have tons of relatives there still.
