Jun. 25th, 2014 06:20 pmMy neighbours on both sides are being noisy, damn them. I got three hours of sleep last night. All I want to do is take a nap, and I can't. Grrrr arrggghhh!
I work near one of the busiest intersections in the whole city. Today when I got out of work, the traffic lights at that intersection were down. This teeny little cop was standing in the middle of the intersection with nothing to protect her from oncoming cars except one of those fluorescent vests (so basically, nothing to protect her from oncoming cars at all). And she was directing traffic. Reason #8,819 why I would never want to work in law enforcement.
I have decided which photo safari I will take if I ever win the lottery. Of course, I need to actually start PLAYING the lottery for this cunning plan to work, and I am reluctant to do that because lotteries have always seemed to me like throwing good money away. And yes, the descriptions of the "cultural village" make me cringe. But it still looks like a fabulous safari. And only $6,200 USD plus airfare per person. A mere bagatelle! That was sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell. Of course, when you have to actually TELL people it's sarcasm, you're probably doing sarcasm wrong. Forgive me, I'm operating on a major sleep deficit right now, and subtle sarcasm is beyond me.
thatyourefuse has asked for a signal-boost. Due to a...complicated situation with her parents, she needs to move out within the next three months. She's in the North Shore of Massachusetts, but would be willing to relocate elsewhere in the state if a job and a decent rental were to come available. She works in retail. If anybody is in Massachusetts and/or has any tips for her re: job hunting or looking for roommates, please share them.
thatyourefuse is good people, and I'm hoping she lands on her feet. She does currently have a part-time job (no chance of it going full-time, unfortunately), but for various reasons may have difficulty finding affordable rental accommodation nearby. And she doesn't drive, so she needs to be somewhere with public transit.
And now the neighbours on one side have quietened down, which means I may actually be able to take that nap. On with the dance, let the joy be unconfined!
