I don’t feel like I should complain about the drizzle outside, not with back east in the grip of a polar vortex (that even *sounds* bad) and the UK having these epic storms and lots of flooding. To those being affected by Arctic air currents or floods, good luck. I can handle a little bit of drizzle.

My phone is being weird again. I really hope it’s not reaching the end of its useful life, because I *depend* on my phone. I also haven’t budgeted for buying a new one anytime soon. I probably should do that, just in case.

Theo Walcott is out of this summer’s World Cup (and more pertinent to Arsenal, for the rest of the club season) with a ruptured cruciate ligament. I have only the haziest idea of what and where a cruciate ligament is, but if he’ll be out for 6-8 months with it, evidently it’s an important part of the body. England-Supporting Co-Worker and I had a very grave discussion about it by the water cooler. It prompted another co-worker, who knows nothing about footie, to say, “I’m sorry about your friend’s injury.” She had assumed from our mournful tone England-Supporting Co-Worker and I were talking about a mutual friend, not a total stranger. It was quite funny, but I daresay Roy Hodgson is not amused. The England-supporting part of me is not particularly amused either.

Have an older fic, [personal profile] rivkat's Supernatural AU Captured by the Game, in which infant Sam supposedly died in the fire, but was really kidnapped and raised by Azazel. 22 years later, Azazel orders him to win the trust of some hunter named Dean Winchester. Really excellent AU which shows the differences in both characters, Sam being raised by a psychopath and Dean growing up without his baby brother to look after. And yet they keep their essentials, which is tricky for AU's. Spoilers for the first two seasons of SPN. Long, but so worth it. Also, contains moments of really excellent dark humour, and a plausibly slow, painful journey for Sam from Azazel's willing apprentice to someone less, well, evil. Warning: contains Wincest, but of the "don't actually know they're relatives" variety.

Speaking of SPN, I think I've figured out why I like Sleepy Hollow so much: it's like Supernatural without the skeevy race and gender issues which eventually made me quit watching. This is probably not an original observation. After I thought of the comparison, I realized it felt very familiar.

And speaking of Sleepy Hollow, have [personal profile] flourish's Yuletide case file fic crossover with Elementary, the Hellhound of the Rockefellers. If you've ever imagined what Joan Watson might make of Ichabod Crane and vice versa, wonder no more. Long, but worth it.
