May. 4th, 2013 05:06 pmSo, Iron Man 3? I would read the reviews on my f-list/dwircle, but they're all dutifully marked with spoilers (THANK YOU everybody for being good about marking spoilers). I wasn't intending to see it, owing to Iron Man 2 being soul-suckingly horrible, and also owing to what sounded like potentially VERY dodgy racial dynamics with The Mandarin. However, what little I've gleaned from outside the spoiler cuts seems to be squeeful. I am undecided, and would welcome (spoiler-free) thoughts on whether it's worth going. Thank you kindly.
Supposed to be having dinner with the sister and her boyfriend, and just got a text that they'll be half an hour late. I'm hungry now, damnit.
Apparently Paris St. Germain wants to sign Arsenal's Arsene Wenger as their new manager but he doesn't sound keen. This puzzles me, because he'd be going from a club where he has to scrimp and save (relatively speaking, of course) to a club with unlimited resources. Mind you, he'd also be going from a job where he has great job security (17 years) to one where even coming first in the domestic league isn't enough to keep you from getting fired. So maybe it's not so puzzling after all.
In other news, Ben Aaronovitch has a new Rivers of London book out in June (Broken Homes) and Naomi Novik has a new Temeraire book out in August (Blood of Tyrants). I am excite!
