It has come to my attention that people have been blaming the crew of the HMS Bounty for being out in the storm, and thereby blaming the two crew members who didn't make it for their own deaths. Re-reading one of my own posts about Sandy, which mentions the loss of the HMS Bounty, that post could be interpreted as victim-blaming. It wasn't meant that way, but I worded it carelessly. As pointed out in the comments of
commodorified's post, there are many circumstances in which a ship may actually be safer at sea than in port. They got unlucky, sad to say.
On a different note entirely, apparently Disney has bought Lucasfilm for four billion dollars, and there will be a new Star Wars movie out within a few years. John Scalzi thinks it's a good thing.
