On my f-list/in my circle, [personal profile] marymac recently visited The Giant's Causeway recently, a UNESCO world heritage site administered by the National Trust (a UK charitable organization), and discovered Young Earth Creationist propaganda in the displays, mixed in with the real scientific explanations for the geological formation. Not cool, National Trust.

Edited to add: [personal profile] legionseagle adds some clarification to my understanding of the events MaryMac describes and also adds that creationism in the specific Northern Ireland context feeds into sectarian (i.e. Protestant v. Catholic) politics, as well as being just plain old bad science.

Football (a.k.a. soccer) is finally catching up with other sports, and implementing goal-line technology.

In Defense of the Black Widow.

Gakked from...somewhere, correspondence between John Cleese and The Sun newspaper regarding a quote attributed to him which he did not say. The editor's powers of Not Getting It are epic. Of course, since Getting It would probably endanger his job, it's hardly surprising.

The weather has finally broken and it has been hot and humid for the past few days. Prior to that we had the rainiest June in 100 years, so the sudden change is taking me a while to get used to. I feel like a wet noodle, and I'm sure Young Miss Weaver feels even worse what with having a fur coat she can't unzip. At least I can wear the minimum amount of decent clothing.

[personal profile] sanguinity rematches Season 1 of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

[profile] planetalyx has a VERY funny story about losing her keys and where she found them.
