Mar. 18th, 2012 12:55 pmMy mini-break was awesome, even though the weather mostly sucked. Home again, home again jiggety jig, with Young Miss Weaver VERY happy to see me back. I'd forgotten that I'd left the house in such a mess, though. Sigh.
I just finished The Hunger Games yesterday evening on the ferry. Be right back, have to read the next two books right away. I'm a bit spoiled for stuff that happens in both books, but I guess that's what happens when you dawdle and don't get right on reading something your entire circle has been reading for a while. And it wasn't my circle's fault. I went looking for some very specific, very limited information, and ended up getting more information than I had wanted. It happens. I should've just asked people, with the proviso that it was the only thing I wanted to know, rather than going to look for myself.
mardia has just finished reading the entire trilogy and has many thoughts. None of which I've read, because I've learned my lesson about spoilers.
twistedchick on how Santorum and Gingrich's supposedly Catholic political stances are actually against Catholic doctrine.
I'm sure everybody's already read Greg Smith's Why I am Leaving Goldman Sachs, so here, courtesy of the Daily Mash, have Darth Vader's Why I am Leaving the Empire.
Gakked from...somebody in my circle, an interesting article in The Advocate by Omar Sharif, Jr. (grandson of the actor, and openly gay, incidentally) on why he's left Egypt.
An unarmed Florida 17 year old named Trayvon Martin was pursued, shot and killed last month by a Neighbourhood Watch captain with a concealed carry permit, and police have yet to file any charges. Martin was in the gated community visiting his father and stepmother, and had left their house to walk to a nearby convenience store and buy Skittles for his little brother. The Miami Herald has more. It's a long article, but well worth reading.
