I find I'm a little bit happier lately, not sweating the small stuff as much as usual. Now, some of that could be down to residual relaxation from just having had several weeks off work, but maybe I can train my brain to stay in that optimistic groove, even after my vacation glow has dissipated. It's worth a shot, anyway.
I cannot find my DVD of Captain America: The First Avenger *anywhere*. I rewatched The Winter Soldier last night, and now I want to see the first movie again, but it's nowhere to be found. I think this could be a sign from the heavens that I need to organize my DVD and Blu-Ray collection better. And keep better track of who I lend stuff to, in case I lent it out. I have all the Steve/Bucky feels in the *world*, and I can't watch them interact in the olden days!
Speaking of Captain America, someone on my f-list/dwircle recently made a very perceptive comment, but naturally I can't remember who it was, nor did I bookmark the entry. In my defense, I've had limited internet access the past few weeks. Whoever it was said that Steve Rogers has the exact opposite of "man pain". Yes, he is male, and yes, he is in pain, but he totally just keeps on trucking regardless of how shitty he feels. He is very...competent, and sensible, and he doesn't use his own pain and grief as an excuse to do bad things to other people. It's kind of amazing that he's actually a popular character, when you think about it!
I have a large and rather rusty pair of garden shears in my hallway closet. See, one of my neighbours, it turns out she has the basement storage unit next to mine, and apparently her shears fell into my unit, through a crack in the wood. I didn't have my padlock key with me when she told me this, so I said I'd get them later and take them to her. But then I forgot which apartment she lives in, and even her name. I can hardly put up a sign in the lobby saying, "Elderly lady with an Eastern European accent, I have your garden shears." I'm hoping to bump into her by chance at some point soon, so I can get rid of the damn things. In other apartment news, the bank is fixing up the apartment next to me, and it should be up for sale within a few weeks. I just hope the new owner is someone relatively quiet.
Off to scoop the cat litter, oh the glamour of my existence.

norwich36, I now know that it was
selenak who talked so wisely about Steve Rogers and his lack of man pain.
