So [personal profile] rap541 (who is the biggest enabler who ever enabled, thanks TONS, Rappy!) told me about this book called "Flu" by New York Times science writer Gina Kolata, about the influenza pandemic of 1918. It sounds intriguing, but I checked it out on Amazon and on Apple, and it's the exact same price on both Kindle and iBooks, $8.99 CDN. Which company is marginally less evil?

In other news, had a delicious Greek dinner with [personal profile] katherine and her partner, although I am now very, very full.

In other, other news, cutting for spoilers for all aired World Cup games. I wore my orange blouse to work, but it didn't help the Oranje win. Oh well, hopefully they can still win the third place match against Brazil on Saturday. Brazil will likely be totally demoralized after Tuesday's heavy defeat. And I said months ago I thought Germany would win the World Cup, but [personal profile] jenny_jenkins disagreed with me, didn't think this was their year. And here they are in the final. One game away from proving me right! Although I'm probably jinxing them just by saying that. Shhhhh, I won't say it any more.

England are the team of my passport (well, I have a Canadian passport too, but Canada never qualify), Holland are the team of my family, but Germany are the team I would support if I were a neutral. So in spite of the disappointment today, I am still a relatively happy camper.
