raincitygirlI do not need a kitten. I do not need a kitten. planetalyx and her lovely wife, being very kind human beings, are fostering 3 itty bitty feral kittens to socialize them (they will be up for adoption soon), and they are posting these incredibly cute photos. (click where it says "video" to get a slideshow of still photos) They make me all melty and kitten-loving. Fortunately Alyx and the frelling kittens in question are nowhere near me geographically, but they make me want to put in an application with Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue, where I got Young Miss Weaver.
Young Miss Weaver is perfectly happy being an only cat. She’s an adaptable sort, so I’m sure she’d cope with a kitten, but she’s not lonely without one. Also, kittens are very easy top adopt out, being so little and cute, so if I don’t adopt one, someone else will. If I were to adopt again, I’d feel duty bound to adopt a cat, rather than a kitten. Finally, we’re talking twice the expense on food, twice the expense on vet bills and health insurance premiums, twice the cat litter to scoop. That last one’s a biggie.
I do not need a kitten. Maybe if I say it often enough, it’ll sink in.
