Cutting for spoilers for the UEFA Champions League final. Not sure if it's considered spoiler-able, but you can't be too careful:
A very scrappy but absorbing game. I watched as a neutral, so I didn't really care who won as long as it was an entertaining game. I feel bad for Atletico, but pleased for Gareth Bale, who comes across in interviews like a fairly sensible and grounded person rather than an entitled brat. Although who can really tell someone's personality from their media profile? Ryan Giggs used to come across as a nice guy in interviews, for Pete's sake, until it emerged he'd been sleeping with his brother's wife for years.
I had to roll my eyes at Cristiano Ronaldo's goal celebration. Oh Ronaldo, never change. And that's someone who could use a better PR person so he could come across like less of a jerk in public life. Also, Diego Simeone (the Atletico manager) charging onto the field while play was still in progress to try and confront a Real player was surreal. I had no problem with the ref sending him to the stands for that stunt. There is such a thing as dignity.
Gakked from
musesfool, Are we at peak super-hero?, speculating if the bubble is about to burst for comic book movies and TV shows.
Gakked from someone on my f-list/dwircle, A linguist explains British accents of yore, which might as well be subtitled, "Why Tom Mison's accent in Sleepy Hollow is probably grossly inaccurate for the 18th century English character he's playing."
I recently purchased this aromatherapy diffuser from Escents and have to say I'm pretty happy with it. It shuts off automatically when it runs out of water, which is a lifesaver for someone like me who forgets to top up the water.
In other news, it's raining, and I have lower back pain. I don't think these two things are necessarily related, but they're both annoying me.
