Fucking hell. Gakked from [personal profile] legionseagle, it sounds like a specialist sex crimes police detective may have been falsifying evidence to ensure charges were not laid in sex crimes in London, England.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. And people wonder why so many women are reluctant to press charges.

It's even worse than it looks. There are two detectives in the unit in question who are under investigation and the unit itself was set up as a response to the culpable failure - as established on an enquiry - of the existing detective force to investigate multiple reports of a serial rapist who was a cabbie whose modus operandi was to claim he was celebrating something and offer champagne to his passengers, and then overpower (drug?) them; the police had routinely discounted complaints on the basis that the women must have got drunk and consented.
