Would anybody like a slightly-used house cat? She's cute.
Yesterday Young Miss Weaver irritated me by finding a very large ant and just following it around for about half an hour, instead of eating the damn thing. I have nothing against ants on an objective level. I understand they have a highly sophisticated social organization and everything. But moving from the objective to the subjective, I do NOT want ants in my apartment (especially very big ones). This might have been the scout, checking out conditions and reporting back to her officer. At which point that one lone ant which so fascinated Young Miss Weaver would have been followed by a full battalion of infantry invading my home.
Today, she puked all over the hallway and living room. Which I naturally had to clean up ASAP because I just got new wood laminate floors put in a year ago, and cat puke would be bad for them. And no, it wasn't the ant, because she never did eat the damn ant (just kept following it like a paparazzo). I finally picked it up with some kitchen paper and flushed it down the toilet.
Dinner last night with the fam went well. Seemed fraught at first, but gradually loosened up. We were celebrating the adjacent birthdays of two fam members, so went upscale to the Boathouse. The wild sockeye salmon with triple berry compote was outstanding. If only I could afford to eat in such places more than once a year. Sigh.
