April 5th one day sale on House and Monk box sets

[profile] starwatcher307 notes that Amazon.com (so the US site only, no luck for us Canadians) is having a one-day sale on box sets of House ($63 USD) and Monk ($53 USD). Personally I've never taken much interest in either show, but I know there are people on my f-list/dwircle who have, so I come bearing links just in case. Thank you, Starwatcher!

[personal profile] musesfool has very interesting thoughts on the relationship between Anakin and Palpatine and the differences between Anakin and Kylo Ren. SPOILERS for all Star Wars movies abound. Spoiler cutting for a spoiler from The Phantom Menace, even though I don't think it REALLY counts as a spoiler. Personally, I didn't recognize Ian McDiarmid as Senator Palpatine in The Phantom Menace as opposed to Ian McDiarmid as the Emperor in the original trilogy. I took the senator for a kindly politician until about halfway through the movie, at which point one of the friends I was seeing it with leaned over and hissed, "That's the Emperor! It's the same actor as in Return of the Jedi, just without the fright make-up!" Um, I was a little slow. And must have not paid much attention to the build-up for TPM, because I assume the fact that Ian McDiarmid was in the cast was not a secret.

My working life is insane at the moment, and will remain thus until close of business Friday. I frelling HATE fiscal year-end.

I have come to the realization that all my icons are at least 4 years old. I think it's been that long since I bothered updating my icons. I'm just lazy.

Huh. I remember the voice -- the voice reminded me of the Emperor, but I figured it was just a coincidence until the senator became a more obvious baddie.

Which I shouldn't be surprised by, I guess. Trying to write a story, it's always the dialogue I hear in head first, long before I can picture the scene or figure out plot or themes (heh, let's be honest, those last two get figured out on the fly, there is no planning).
