So there’s a Louis Vuitton store in my city. They sometimes have cool window displays so I tend to glance that way as I pass. At the moment they have REALLY cool window displays, with one teeny tiny problem. There are no PRODUCTS displayed in any of the windows. Usually they have dressed-up mannequins, luggage, etc. Not so much as a belt.

Is this minimalism? Or did they forget the stuff they’re trying to sell? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sometimes I think I’d be better off on Twitter where you have to keep your posts very short. I tend to have short thoughts. But I already spend an unhealthy amount of time on my phone, so I’m reluctant to add to it.

LegionsEagle has a really interesting post on the difference between copyright piracy and theft.

So, there’s been a development in the Robin van Persie transfer request saga (cutting for spoilers):

So Arsenal has accepted Manchester United’s bid for van Persie and he’s on his way up north. Cue wailing, gnashing of teeth and rending of garments from Arsenal fans, plus a fair number of them suddenly hating the guy’s guts. Which is…whatever. And makes me very glad that I am a football fan without a club. I have a soft spot for Barcelona because they play like ballet dancers, but that’s about it. Which is good, because many (not all) fans of a club seem to lose all objectivity when a player either moves on or declares his intention to move on.

If he’s good at his job, he goes from being their special favourite to being reviled for his perfidy. But the same does not hold true for players coming to the club from other clubs. Even if their departure from their old club was acrimonious, the new guy is accepted with open arms. Just to pick on Arsenal fans for a bit longer (though I emphasize that I’ve seen this behaviour from fans of many clubs), they were furious about other clubs poaching their captains (first old captain Cesc Fabregas defected to Barcelona and now new captain van Persie is Manchester-bound). But when Per Mertesacker joined them last year from Werder Bremen, he was Bremen’s captain, and allegedly broke a lot of hearts when he was seduced away by Arsenal. Not so much as a peep from the Gunner faithful about that, just a joyous welcome.

Now I’m stating the blindingly obvious here: sky is blue, water is wet, fans of anything can be hypocritical when it suits them. But it’s to the point where I’m avoiding LJ’s football comms because I just know there’s going to be blood in the water over van Persie.
