Perhaps you’ll remember that I posted last week about seeing “The Hurt Locker”, to which I had a very negative reaction.
ide_cyan made some really interesting points in comments. I’m handicapped by:
a) Not having seen any of Kathryn Bigelow’s other movies myself
b) Not having been granted permission by my brother to copy-paste his original thoughts (I believe his exact words were, “No your crazy internet friends CAN’T read my email”)
So if anybody else has an opinion on Bigelow movies, please feel free to discuss. I must admit that while I’m still profoundly ticked off by The Hurt Locker, based on what's been said, some of her other movies look VERY interesting, and I’ve added “The Weight of Water” to my queue as a start. Oh, and
kattahj also makes good points in the same post. There are very smart people on my friends list / in my circle.
Went for sushi last night at a place called Kishimoto, on Commercial Drive at East 4th Avenue (so about 5 minutes’ walk from Commercial – Broadway station). I’ve heard many good things about it, but never got around to trying it out before now. REALLY delicious sushi, and the presentation is awesome. Naturally, it didn’t occur to me to take a phone photo until after I’d already demolished my plate so I can’t show it to you. Next time.
Saving the best news for last, my apartment is officially certified as bedbug-free, and the guy said I have “absolutely nothing to worry about”. He said he wasn’t allowed to tell people which suite in the building DOES have bedbugs, but I suspect it’s not near mine.
