I think I might have to turn in my LGBT card for humiliating levels of cluelessness. I have Apple Music, whereby for $10 a month you can stream any song in their catalogue. I stumbled across a song last week by an American singer I had never heard of before called Victoria Monet.

It was a nice melody and I liked her voice. So I downloaded this song "Dive", and stuck it in my Heavy Repeat Playlist. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics.

Yesterday morning, I was listening to it again, and suddenly wondered what the song is about. So I started paying ACTUAL ATTENTION to the lyrics, like most people do the first time they listen to a song. I quickly realized it's about a woman receiving oral sex.

I had listened to it EIGHT times in the past week without clueing in. And now I come to listen to them, the lyrics are not exactly what anybody would call particularly....subtle. Apparently I'm just truly oblivious to double entendres set to music.

Don't feel bad - I don't always listen to the lyrics either - sometimes I can't even make them out. Also lyrics can be interpreted more than one way, if you aren't necessarily paying attention.

It took me a while to figure out that Chandilere was about alcoholism. And I listened to it a lot.

We were singing Bell X1's "Eve, the apple of my eye" loudly at regular intervals for upward of fifteen years before my mother caught on to how much of it was about sex, I wouldn't worry!
