I'm a sucker for a hard luck case, though. When I went to adopt, the lady at the rescue organization mentioned this one older kitten who was having a hard time in her foster home and was really jumpy. And I promptly thought, "THIS is the kitten for me. I will tame her and teach her to trust humanity." All I taught her to trust was me. The rest of the world is still terrifying to her. I had experience with strays at the time, but none with ferals. If I'd only known.
