I have GOT to get back into the habit of reading LJ/DW.

The Deeds of the Disturber, one of the funniest Amelia Peabody books by Elizabeth Peters, is out of print in hard copy, and unavailable as an e-book. Have tried Kobo, Kindle and iBooks. I will have to get it out of the library, I fear. Grrrrr! I'm trying to re-read the whole series in order, not having read the books in donkeys' years.

I think I’m going to have to give up on re-reading Noel Streatfeild’s book Apple Bough (called Travelling Shoes in some editions). My copy, leftover from my childhood, is literally falling apart, and I will NOT buy another, not when the book aggravates me so much. I end up re-reading it every couple of years and every time I am enraged by how incredibly selfish and immature the Forum children’s parents are.

So it’s a good book, but David and Polly will drive you around the bend, if you’re anything like me. However, I suppose as parents of child performers go, David and Polly could be worse. I mean, they could be Lindsay Lohan’s parents. Or the parents of various other real-life child and adolescent stars whose stagestruck parents seem more interested in furthering their child’s career and in lining their own pockets than in actually parenting.
