I was away on holiday from Monday to Friday, and though I had my laptop and phone with me, and the hotel had free wifi, it never even occurred to me to blog, tweet or read other people's journals. Waste of good wifi, if you ask me. Either that or the holiday was doing its job and I was getting nice and relaxed.
Aimed at the elderly gentleman in the pool, if you have to start a sentence with, "I'm not racist/sexist but...." it might just be a good idea NOT to finish that sentence.
I hate travelling. I'm fine once I'm at the destination, or home again, but the process of getting somewhere, the dreariness of car rides and ferry trips, make me nuts. I'm probably not alone in feeling that way.
Five days, four nights is probably the perfect length of time for me to holiday WITH someone. By the fourth night I was getting irritable at having no privacy and no space, but we were going home the next day, so that was okay.
I love the maternal unit dearly, but her habit of bringing Venus Flytrap into places without a leash on would've driven me crazy if the three of us had been together much longer. Leash your dog in public places like the hotel lobby! Either that or keep an eagle eye on him at all times, so he doesn't drift behind the nice girl at the check-in counter, headed for the nearest open door. Granted, he is a small, inoffensive and fairly well-behaved dog, but he's not 100% reliable and it's not fair on the staff. We nearly had a heated argument about it on the final night. See above re: the perfect length of a holiday.
Public notice: gas was significantly cheaper on Vancouver Island than on the mainland, which makes no sense whatsoever. It was also significantly cheaper the further you got away from a ferry terminal, which also makes no sense. I note it anyway.
