Dogs are silly. I was at the vet clinic picking up more anti-nausea meds for YMW and saw a fluffy little Bichon Frise try to attack a German Shepherd. It yanked so hard and suddenly on the leash its owner let go, ran at the German Shepherd growling and snapping, and the German Shepherd let out a massive WOOF and the Bichon Frise scuttled away. I love German Shepherds. If I had a house with a big backyard and unlimited leisure time in which to walk it, I would want to adopt one (probably a troubled one, knowing my history with feline hard luck cases). But YMW would never forgive me. She hates dogs. She always hisses at Venus Fly Trap whenever he and Mum come to visit, and he always looks so hurt.

Gakked from giandujakiss, have the story (with a very happy ending, rest assured) of a stray dog who followed an extreme sports team all through the Amazon.

Gakked from...someone on my f-list/dwircle, the most loud sex complaints to police in the five boroughs of NYC come from this building in Brooklyn. Clearly that's where Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes live. Clearly.

Aw. I wonder if it's something in Bichon Frises, because Fraser seriously believed he was the same size as the pit bull mix next door.

How's YMW doing lately? The anti-nausea meds helping any?

The heart of a lion in the body of a fluffy little white dog. Maybe there's a reckless gene in Bichons.

She's doing better now she's on the meds, hasn't thrown up in 5 days. She sees the radiologist for the ultrasound on Monday (assuming I can get her into the carrier that morning). Thank you for asking. How's Franniedog?

Fingers crossed that she continues to improve and that if they find something, it's an easy fix.

Franniedog is doing pretty well. Working on brushing her out for a groomer's visit, so she's quietly hating me from the other side of the coffee table right now.

Years ago I read a book by a vet about dog behaviour, which included an anecdote about a Yorkshire Terrier that used to casually threaten and attack people and other dogs, which the owner thought was cute because he was so small. Until one day in the waiting room when he tried to pick a fight with a Pyrenean Mountain Dog (which if you've never seen one are MOUNTAINOUS), and the Pyrenean just casually lifted its leg and pissed all over him. For about two minutes continuously, supposedly.

Cured the bullying behaviour.

I have seen them, and yes, they are indeed mountainous. Also, I imagine that WOULD cure the Yorkie.

My mother's old dog was a fluffy Shih Tzu who was extremely brave towards big dogs as long as both dogs were safely on a leash. She would bark and growl from a safe distance and resisted all attempts to cure her of such behaviour. Mind you, we never tried getting a huge dog to pee on her. That might have done the trick. She wasn't stupid with her bullying, though. She never once tried it in an off-leash situation where the big dog could actually get near her.

She also once held off a team of paramedics who were attempting to load my mother into an ambulance, circling my mother's recumbent body and snarling. My mum had fallen down the front steps late at night while taking the dog for a walk. She had her phone with her fortunately, so called 911. Ambulance arrived, and naturally Mum cried out in pain every time they touched her. So little Susie decided these strange humans were THE ENEMY and it was her duty to her mistress to hold them off. They ended up calling for a second ambulance so that crew could distract the dog while the original crew got Mum onto a stretcher and into the ambulance.
