I am currently stuck 2/3 of the way through the second episode of The Americans, mainly because the main characters are being mean to nice people. They’re *spies*, not fluffy bunnies, of course they’re mean. But I’m still stuck. Cutting for spoilers:
I desperately want to find out what happens next, but I have a horrible feeling that Viola, Grayson, and Viola’s brother are all going to end up dead after the op is over. And it’s not FAIR. All Viola did was happen to take a job as housekeeper to a politician. And now her son’s life is at risk (and potentially her own life too) because Philip and Elizabeth have dragged her kicking and screaming into the Cold War.
Timishev (spelling?) in the last episode was a horrible person. I had no problem with Philip and Elizabeth tying him up in the trunk of their car. And the dumb-as-two-sticks trophy wife at the beginning of 1.02, I have no problem if she becomes collateral damage. But I will have a problem with Philip and Elizabeth if they kill Viola and her family to cover themselves.
I’ve been stuck on this ep for *days* now, and it’s to the point where I want to keep watching, but if Viola & Co. get killed, I want to fast-forward through it all and just go on to the next episode. So please fess up, those who’ve seen 1.02. Am I safe to keep watching, or should I skip ahead to episode 1.03 and pretend 1.02 never happened?
